New burnout recovery book

Burnout is a growing problem worldwide. In 2019, the number of people with burnout in the UK was reported to be 57%, compared to 50% in the USA, 37% in Spain and 30% in Germany and France (Source: World Economic Forum October), and rates have continued to rise since then. Although workers in any profession can experience work-related burnout, numbers are particularly high within the healthcare sector. It has become such a significant problem globally that in 2019 the World Health Organization (WHO) defined it as an “occupational phenomenon” and included a more detailed definition of burnout it in its 11th Revision of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11).

Burnout has many negative consequences and huge cost implications for individuals, organisations and society in general. It is also complex and trying to recover can be too. Therefore, the aim of this book is to simplify the recovery process in order to help readers restore their well-being and be able to return to work. It does so by revealing the five essential keys to burnout recovery.  The five keys provide readers with:

  • A simple and easy to follow “road map” to restore well-being
  • Tips on how to get started on the burnout recovery journey
  • Strategies grounded in scientific research
  • Practical advice to help those suffering from moderate to severe work-related burnout in particular
  • Examples of how the author applied the five keys to help her successfully recover from burnout, not once, but twice.

This book also includes an open, authentic and detailed account of the author’s own experiences of work-related burnout for readers to learn from. This describes the warning signs, the suffering she experienced, the challenges of finding her way out of it and back to well-being and happiness. Therefore, if you are suffering from moderate or severe work-related burnout and want a simple and easy to follow guide to recovery that is not only founded in personal experience but is also evidence-based, to help you restore your well-being and be able to return to work, then this book is for you.
